Safety and Wellbeing is
our First Consideration

G&S is committed to the highest possible standards of occupational health, safety and environmental management throughout our operations. Our safety policies and culture allow us to deliver world-class results while maintaining workforce productivity.

There is a shared belief across all levels of our business that every incident, and therefore every injury is preventable. The G&S Safety Charter emphasises our commitment to creating a “Zero Exposure” environment to deliver our goal of “Zero Harm”.

This means we need our people to focus on their exposure to risks by controlling and/or eliminating hazards wherever possible.

It is important for all of our valued subcontractors and partners to adopt our commitment to safety, and for our team to advocate and action the motto, "if it’s not safe, stop- then make it safe".

Our Safety Culture

Our culture embodies the shared belief across all business units that every incident, and therefore injury, is preventable. G&S has created an informed environment whereby personnel have:

  • Current knowledge about all factors that determine the safety of any project.
  • A reporting culture where people are encouraged and prepared to report hazards, errors and near misses.
  • A just culture where there is a workplace of trust in which people are encouraged, even rewarded, for providing essential safety-related information. Further, they are clear about where the line must be drawn between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
  • A learning culture where personnel willingly investigate and draw the right conclusions from safety information and voluntarily implement improvements.
  • A flexible culture where employees are able to reconfigure the work process in the face of high-risk operations to always ensure that safety is our first consideration.
Quality Management

G&S’ Quality Management System (QMS) provides a management framework that helps ensure the necessary controls are in place to address risks and monitor and measure performance.

G&S are continually striving for improvements in the aim to achieve best practice in our quality of performance.

We hold certification to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000, with each project having its own Quality Plan driven by specific project requirements to ensure a planned delivery of services to minimise disruption and downtime to our clients.

G&S Engineering Services (G&S) successes are delivered by our people. To support our people, we must maintain a strong focus on the communities in which they live. We invest heavily in training, contribute to regional economic growth and we work closely with our clients and local industry bodies, with the aim of making G&S and our industries, stronger, enjoyable and sustainable.

Our philosophy drives us to engage with and give back to our communities as we are genuinely part of them.

Through sponsorships and employee donation programs we provide financial support to a range of community groups, charities and not for profit organisations. In particular G&S are proud to be a 'Platinum Partner' of the RACQ CQ Rescue for the past 12 years and we are delighted to announce we have donated more than $1 million dollars to the region’s rescue helicopter services.

Here at G&S the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, is our first priority and we are heavily committed to investing in the wider community with a particular focus on supporting activities with a health, safety and wellbeing orientation.

Additionally, we are proud to be the naming sponsor of the Mackay Wine and Food Festival, which is a major highlight on the Mackay regional calendar. Our relationship with the festival since 1997 is just one example where we are part of the communities that we work in.

G&S team members also take part each year in various Corporate Challenge Run’s, including the BMA Marina Run and Run for Mi Life (just to name a few) raising money for charities and organisations that align with our mental health and wellbeing programs.

We are dedicated to our people and the communities in which they live, without whom our company and the industries in which we work would not be as successful.
